Discovering the Past

Discovering the Past: A Journey Through Our Antiques Center
**Welcome to Kolbe Antiques & Art**
**Discovering the Past, Beautifully**

Something is charming about wandering through an antiques center. Each corner holds a story, and every object carries whispers from another time. Every visitor becomes, in their own way, a curator of history.

At Kolbe Antiques & Art, we do more than sell antiques—we connect people with enduring treasures rich in beauty, craftsmanship, and heritage. Alongside our carefully sourced antiques, you will also discover works by talented local contemporary artists, creating a thoughtful dialogue between past and present.

**The Art of Discovery**

Whether you are a seasoned collector or visiting for the first time, exploring antiques is always a personal and surprising experience. You may encounter:

– A Victorian writing desk, its surface gently worn by generations of use.
– A 1920s Art Deco lamp that still casts a warm, golden glow.
– A hand-painted porcelain vase that has journeyed across oceans to find its place here.

Each visit reveals something new. That is the nature of antiques — they are unique, storied, and waiting to be rediscovered.

**Why Antiques Matter Today**

In a world that moves quickly and replaces easily, antiques remind us of the value of permanence and artistry. Choosing an antique means:

– Supporting sustainability by preserving and reusing beautifully crafted pieces.
– Bringing authenticity, depth, and character into your home.
– Owning something truly unique — never mass-produced or duplicated.

Every piece you bring home becomes part of your story while honoring the life it lived before.

**What You’ll Find Here**

Our center features an ever-evolving collection that spans centuries and styles. Among our offerings:

– **Furniture:** Primitive antiques, Georgian dressers, Edwardian chairs, farmhouse tables, and more.
– **Collectibles:** Vintage signs, rare books, coins, postcards, toys, and nostalgic memorabilia.
– **Jewelry & Silver:** Elegant pieces crafted with remarkable detail and lasting charm.
– **Art & Ceramics:** Paintings, prints, pottery, and sculptures celebrating both historic and modern artistry.

Kolbe Antiques & Art is home to over 50 antiques dealers and artists, each bringing their expertise, eye, and story to share.

Our main building also houses the beloved Amsterdam Coffee Bar, a welcoming café perfect for enjoying conversation and reflection. Just beyond, our outbuilding features Canal Collectables, offering antiques, vintage finds, and decorative accessories, alongside Resurrection Studios, showcasing one-of-a-kind vintage repurposed clothing, art, and photography.

**More Than Shopping — An Experience**

A visit here is meant to be savored.

– Wander slowly.
– Ask questions.
– Hold something in your hands and imagine its journey.

Then, settle in with a cup of coffee and enjoy the atmosphere. The experience is as much about inspiration as it is about acquisition — a peaceful escape into craftsmanship, memory, and beauty.

**Visit Us & Begin Your Own Story**

If you are looking to add history to your home, start a collection, or enjoy a day immersed in charm and nostalgia, we warmly invite you to visit.

Open Tuesday – Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Eclectic Decorating Style

Curating with Antiques and Vintage Decor

Using vintage and unique items is a fantastic way to create a home that feels special and personal. Here’s how to intentionally use these pieces to make your space inviting and interesting:

1. **Mix Different Styles**

A great home often features a blend of styles from different eras. For example, you can pair mid-century furniture with an antique mirror or hang industrial lights above a traditional wooden table. Let one style take the lead while others support it, creating an exciting visual balance.

2. **Choose a Focal Point for Each Room**
Pick a standout item for each room that catches the eye. It could be a beautiful armoire, a vintage rug, or an artistically designed chair. Keep the surrounding decor simple to let that special piece shine.

3. **Tell Your Story with Objects**
Unique items often hold special memories for us. Incorporate personal items like souvenirs from travels, family heirlooms, or treasures found at flea markets. Group these pieces by the stories they tell or the feelings they evoke, rather than trying to match their looks.

4. **Appreciate Age and Character**

Flaws and signs of wear—like chipped paint or weathered wood—give items character. Embrace these imperfections for a cozy feel, but balance them with more modern, clean-lined pieces to keep your space fresh.

5. **Use Your Antiques Daily**
Don’t just display antiques; use them in your everyday life. An antique desk can serve as your workspace, or an old chest can hold linens. When these pieces have practical purposes, they feel vibrant and meaningful.

6. **Combine Old and New**
Vintage items look great when paired with modern pieces. For instance, you can use an antique table with sleek chairs, or display a classic painting in a simple frame. This mix helps keep your home feeling lively and timeless.

7. **Keep It Simple**

A beautifully designed home has space to breathe. Make sure there’s enough room around your special pieces and regularly update your decor. Leaving some areas empty can help showcase what you love.

8. **Showcase Your Collections Thoughtfully**

If you collect items like pottery, books, or art, display them with care. Arrange them in odd numbers, vary their heights, and use trays or shelves to create defined areas. This transforms your collection into an eye-catching display.

9. **Follow Your Taste, Not Trends**
The most captivating homes often break the mold. If you find a piece you love—even if it’s unusual or imperfect—don’t hesitate to include it in your space.

**The Goal**
A unique home should feel:
– Collected, not just decorated.
– Personal, not showy.
– Timeless, not just trendy.
Most importantly, you should genuinely love every item in your home, making it a true reflection of yourself.

Bucks County Artist FRANK ARCURI

Bucks County Artist FRANK ARCURI

Frank Arcuri – (b. 1946) American, studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Arts Student League. He is a modern master of classically inspired still life images who considers the creation of his canvases as much a continual process of “seeing” as it is a process of painting. At the heart of his work is the interpretation of light, whether it is a product of color, value, form or texture. Mr. Arcuri’s paintings at once bring to mind the academic excellence of the Dutch masters of the 17th Century, while still clearly possessing an immediacy and freshness that speaks of today. Mr. Arcuri has received brilliant reviews and critical acclaim for his exhibitions in New York, London and Hong Kong

Frank Arcuri is a master at creating the illusion of light through his paintings. A curated selection of Mr. Arcuri’s works are available at Kolbe Antiques & Art.

Myles Cavanaugh Fine Artist

Myles Cavanaugh is a Contemporary American Artist based in the bucolic Delaware River Valley.  Born in 1974 to an artistic family, Cavanaugh draws inspiration and influence from both the beauty and mechanics of nature and human form.  While Cavanaugh humbly identifies with his home-base Bucks County Impressionists, the breath of his creativity defies titles and borders.

Come visit Myles paintings at Kolbe Antiques & Art in our 2nd floor showroom.

In 1992 Cavanaugh began his studies in the fine arts program at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.  His penchant for working hands-on continued to emerge as he enrolled in classical methods and techniques including wax casting, printmaking, and impressionism.

Shortly after his studies at Pratt, Cavanaugh began travelling and painting abroad.  A trip to Spain formed an immediate connection to the landscape and people of the country.  His draw to Spain’s majestic surroundings and vibrant energy translated seamlessly into his painting style and made the discovery of new places his forever muse.

An extended residency at Foundation Valparaiso in Mojacár, Spain, an invitation for plein air painting in the Spanish markets of Sevilla, and multiple commissions for the landscapes of Clonokilty, Ireland are just a sampling of Cavanaugh’s international reach.   Locally, he is drawn to both urban and rural settings. His portfolio includes nostalgic scenes depicting the New Jersey shore, Philadelphia and Manhattan skylines, and sweeping Maine country-scapes. Most recently, Cavanaugh – who is an avid cyclist – has been drawing inspiration from athleticism and movement for a new series of paintings.
